Golden West College hosts peace conference
The Golden West College Peace Program, Associated Students, and the Peace, Mind and Body Club are planning a “Creating Peace through Conscious Action†conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday in the college’s student center.
The event was coordinated by peace studies faculty member Fran Farazdaghi and the college’s 2009 Peace Studies Award recipient and faculty member Joyce Bishop, who will speak at the conference.
Workshops begin at 9 a.m., and include topics like selfless giving, intercultural relations, conflict dissolution and literature as a peace method. The day also will include musical and artistic performances.
Admission is $10 at the door for Golden West College students, and $30 for visitors, faculty or staff. Admission includes breakfast, lunch, a conference packet and free parking in lots C and D on Goldenwest Street.
