Phyllis Ketchum Goggio

Phyllis Ketchum Goggio died peacefully at home on April

6, 2009 shortly after reaching her 87th birthday. Phyllis is

survived by her brother, Stuart M. Ketchum Jr., daughters

Carol Goggio Babington, Diane Catherine Fuller, Cristina

Goggio Banks, Annette Goggio, four nieces and nephews

and six grandchildren.

Phyllis was born in New Rochelle, NY in 1922 and moved

to southern California with her family as a young girl,

ultimately settling in Laguna Beach’s Emerald Bay. As a

teenager, Phyllis attended Laguna Beach High School. She

enjoyed many beach related activities and was particularly

talented at swimming and spear5 shing. After one year at

UCLA, she contributed to the war effort by working as a

secretary at the Santa Ana Army Air Base, where she met

her husband, Dr. Alfred F. Goggio. She later relocated to

Berkeley, California where she and her husband raised their

four daughters. In 1966, she returned to southern California

where she became a successful real estate agent in the Bluffs

of Newport Beach. She retired from real estate in her 70’s.

No memorial services are planned. Donations in lieu of

8 owers can be sent to Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in

Newport Beach.
