COSTA MESA — Junior Mo Kreitenberg had two hits for the Lightning in the nonleague game Friday.

Junior pitcher Alex Jimenez improved to 4-1 after six innings of work, allowing one run and striking out five for Sage Hill (7-4).

Freshman Alex Trancoso doubled and had two hits for Estancia (5-1).

Freshman Andres Hernandez and Brodie Pearce also had two hits each for the Eagles.

Sage Hill plays at Whitney Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

IRVINE — Senior John Doering went two for four with two RBIs for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Friday.

Junior Beau Attyah was two for four with one RBI and sophomore Brian Ford was two for three for CdM (8-9, 4-3 in league).

Sea Kings pitcher Steven Manning struck out one, walked three and allowed four hits in his complete-game performance. He allowed one earned run.

The Patriots scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning.

It was Beckman’s second straight win against Corona del Mar this week.

Junior Jacob Mccann was two for two for Newport Harbor (7-10, 3-4 in league), which is now tied for third in league with the Griffins (8-8, 3-4).

The Sailors will play at Marina Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.

LA HABRA — Sophomore Alex Krohnfeldt went two for three for the Mustangs in a pool-play game of the Whittier Christian Tournament at Whittier Christian High Friday.

Sophomore Kira Mitani was one for three, while sophomore Alosina Skipps produced a sacrifice fly for Costa Mesa (11-10).

Mitani improved to 11-8 after striking out four, issuing one walk and allowing six hits.

The Mustangs, who are 1-1 in the tourney, will face El Segundo today at 10 a.m. in pool play. Bracket play will take place later in the day.

NEWPORT BEACH — Tommy Hanrahan had two goals and two assists for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Friday.

Zach Gagnon added two goals and one assist, while Spencer Baratto had one goal for Newport Harbor (7-4, 4-1 in league).

Sailors goalie Jimmy Reed had 10 saves and received help from Justin Faber, Dylan Reuter and Lucas Gagnon.

Newport Harbor will play host to Avalon Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Amy Youngman recorded four goals in the Sea Kings’ nonleague game Friday.

Gabby Smith had two goals and Adriane Knezevic contributed two assists and one goal for CdM.

The Sea Kings play host to Irvine Monday at 3:15 p.m.

SANTA BARBARA — Corona del Mar High went 1-1 after suffering a five-game loss to Long Beach Wilson in the quarterfinals Friday at Santa Barbara High.

The Sea Kings (16-6), ranked No. 9 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll as of April 6, opened the tournament with a 25-23, 25-13, 25-14 against San Marcos. Senior Dylan Davis had 16 kills and six aces, while Weston Nielsen added 11 kills and three digs. Connor Bannan posted 31 assists.

Wilson then beat CdM, 34-32, 30-32, 21-25, 25-19, 15-11. Davis had 22 kills and four blocks in the loss. Nielsen had 18 kills. Danny Baker contributed 12 digs for the Sea Kings, while Bannan amassed 54 assists and recorded two blocks. Tyler Haly hdd eight kills

Santa Barbara Tournament

SANTA BARBARA — Newport Harbor, the tournament’s defending champion, opened up with a sweep of Valencia, winning 27-25, 28-26, 25-15.

Cody Caldwell led with 18 kills, while JB Green added 11 kills for the Sailors, who improved to 15-5. Hamilton Day had seven kills and Will Connelly had five kills. Connor Curry contributed 11 digs and four aces for Newport Harbor, ranked No. 4 in CIF Division.

Results of the Sailors’ quarterfinal match against Dos Pueblos were not available at press time.
