No blowouts here.

A stroke here and a stroke there, and an Orange Coast League boys’ golf championship is decided.

Or split.

Laguna Beach and Costa Mesa will split it for the second straight year after the Breakers and Costa Mesa each shot 204 Wednesday at Aliso Viejo Golf Club.

The Breakers won the match, however, because their sixth golfer “” sophomore Andrew Palmer, who carded a 48 “” was three strokes better than Estancia’s sixth golfer. Both teams, then, finish league play with one loss; the Eagles edged Laguna by a stroke in their first league meeting.

Estancia senior Ryan Knapp was medalist Wednesday, firing an even-par 35. Breakers senior Duane Hewlett shot a 36, followed by teammates Michael Hay (39), Charles Hewlett (40), Skylar Perkins (43) and Michael Cannon (45).

It’s the second straight year the teams have shared the league title.

There will be a playoff at league finals, which begin Monday at Costa Mesa Country Club, to determine which team will receive the league’s No. 1 designation for CIF playoffs.

The top 12 players from Monday’s first round of league finals advance to the second day, Wednesday at Skylinks Golf Course in Long Beach.
