MISSION VIEJO — With the Pirates dropping their Orange Empire Conference regular-season finale Friday, they finished in a three-way tie for the conference championship.

OCC (29-13, 17-7 in conference) could’ve won the title outright with a victory.

Sophomore Ricky Stokes gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the third, but the Gauchos (27-17, 15-9) answered with three runs in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.

The Pirates shared the conference crown with Santa Ana and Cypress. Cypress defeated Santa Ana, 6-3, leaving both teams at 17-7 in conference.

The Pirates kept themselves in contention for a league crown with a 4-0 victory against Irvine Valley Thursday.
