The Orange Coast College baseball team is the No. 2 seed and will play at home in the regional round of the state playoffs, beginning Friday at 2 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

The Pirates (29-13) shared the Orange Empire Conference title with Cypress and Santa Ana, but earned the best seed among conference teams due to a 2-1 record against Cypress and Santa Ana.

OCC will face the second worst remaining seed among No. 15 Ventura, No. 16 Rio Hondo, No. 17 Citrus and No. 18 Chaffey, all of whom play today, in a best-of three series.

No. 1-seeded Palomar will meet the worst seed in the other series.

A doubleheader will be played Saturday, if a third game is necessary.

Should OCC advance, it would play host to a four-team, double-elimination Super Regional, May 15-17. The winner of the Super Regional advances to the four-team state tournament in Fresno.
