The Costa Mesa American Little League Dodgers played a superb game on Saturday May 2nd against their fellow American League team the Red Sox. Evan Larsen pitched five scoreless innings for the Doders allowing just one base hit and two walked batters. Evan continues to show command on the mound as he also posted 11 strikeouts. The Dodgers’ offense struck immediately in the first inning with a lead off base hit from Mikey Ischinger. Mikey took second on a passed ball and was bunted over to third base by Daniel Morales. Keith Marshall’s RBI groundout to short scored the first run for the Dodgers. In the bottom of the third inning, Romar Ortiz lead off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball. Chris Richardson then singled to center and CJ Schwarz drew a walk to load the bases. Mikey Ischinger “The Bandit”, as he is known by his teammates, struck again with a line drive double into center bringing in Ortiz and Richardson. Daniel Morales followed with a line drive into center off the pitcher’s glove, bringing in Schwarz and moving Ischinger to third. Keith Marshall repeated a solid RBI groundout to short allowing Ischinger to score the Dodgers’ fifth run of the game. Daniel Morales pitched the sixth inning striking out two of the three batters faced.
