PET OF THE WEEK

Simba

Where will the magnificent Bengal Simba be seen since Community Animal Network’s adoption area on the pet patio of Russo’s Pet Store has been torn down due to the Fashion Island enhancement project?

It came as a surprise to everyone, says DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, the founder of the group.

For more than nine years Community Animal Network has worked alongside Russo’s on the pet patio and the front of the store finding new homes for rescue dogs and cats.

Russo’s owner, Dan Di Giacomo, has only been able to allow three small cages indoors.

The network now has no choice but to show Simba and other animals in the caregiver’s home and will have to rotate showing animals in a small corner at Russo’s.

Those interested in Simba should be aware that he wants to be the center of attention and the only pet.

He will drag his feather wand around the house and drop it to signal playtime and will never tire of seeking your attention.

Simba is very interactive and would not be well-suited for someone who works all day.

With the loss of the pet patio and few adoption cages inside the pet store, the Community Animal Network needs donations more than ever to continue their mission with local animals.
