?Historic District Walk: 10 a.m. Saturday. Take a walk through the renovated 12-acre Historic District, learning about the colorful past of the cove and some of the long-time residents. Author Laura Davick will sign “Crystal Cove Cottages, Islands in Time on the California Coast.” Then watch a painting demonstration by Rick Delanty, one of the Signature Artists now showing in the Park Store and Gallery. Meet at Los Trancos parking lot at the trailer. $10 day-use fee

?Take Your Mother on a Nature Photo Walk: 6 p.m. Sunday. Let nature photographer Andre Torng teach you and your mother how to snap beautiful sunset and scenic vista shots. Meet at Reef Point at the southern end of the parking lot near the restroom.

?Geology Slide Show: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Join Irvine Valley College geology professor, Merton Hill for an evening talk and slide presentation about the Geology of Crystal Cove State Park. Meet at Cottage No. 34 in the Historic District next to the Reservation Office. Park in the Los Trancos lot.

LAGUNA COAST WILDERNESS PARK

Willow Canyon on Laguna Canyon Road, just south of the El Toro Road intersection. Open to hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers on specified trails; open 7 a.m. to sunset, but parking lot is only open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., $3.

Dilley Preserve on Laguna Canyon Road, just north of the 73 Toll Road: Open daily 7 a.m. to sunset. Parking $3; lot open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Sycamore Canyon on Laguna Canyon Road, just south of the 405 Freeway interchange: The James and Rosemary Nix Nature Center hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; parking $3; lot open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Laguna Heights, the trail head for West Ridge trail and routes into Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, at Top of the World on Alta Laguna Boulevard, is open daily, 7 a.m. to sunset.

?Elder Trek: 9:30 a.m. to noon today. Enjoy the outdoors and learn about diverse plant life on this easy, two-mile hike with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists. Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Little Sycamore Canyon Staging Area/Nix Nature Center. Reservations required, call (949) 923-2235. Parking: $3.

?Butterfly Hike: 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Learn to identify host plants for butterflies with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalist Nadine Nordstrom on this moderate, but steep and rocky, 3.5-mile-hike.
