Get ready to rummage
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church has transformed parts of its campus into a 20,000-square-foot rummage sale with goodies ranging from children’s clothing to a Cadillac this week.
About 300 volunteers are slated to participate in the three-day event, which organizers hope will raise about $100,000 for various church ministry programs.
“It’s really a neat opportunity for the community as well as something that is going toward a good cause,” said Jon Batarse, St. Andrew’s communications director.
The church also will hold a silent auction for a 1991 Cadillac Allante during the sale.
St. Andrew’s has been hosting annual rummage sales nearly every year for the past four decades as a way to bring in money for the church’s various mission projects.
The last sale the church hosted two years ago generated about $80,000 for church ministries.
Proceeds from this year’s sale will go to church projects that include helping out at Heritage House, a Costa Mesa drug and alcohol rehabilitation home and Mika Community Development Corp., which helps develop neighborhood leadership in low-income areas of Costa Mesa.
