Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary went to the Environmental Nature Center recently where Director Bo Glover discussed the work of the nature center to provide educational opportunities to school children. Recently the center hosted the first official “Go Green” workshop to encourage homeowners to find ways to conserve energy, use recycled products, and look at the benefits when remodeling a home.

The center uses recycled materials throughout and is a superb model in the community of a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a green-building rating system. To continue the center’s work in the community and for the benefit of Orange County, Mary Cockley, president of the Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary, presented Bo with a donation, accompanied by Norm Loats, a founder of the center and the Newport Beach Chamber’s “Citizen of the Year” and Chris Szechenyi, Rotary’s Environment Committee chairman, and Five Crowns manager.
