Four suspects arrested in January home robbery

Huntington Beach police have arrested four suspects in connection with a home invasion robbery Jan. 2 in the 6400 block of Beachview Drive.

In the robbery, three men wearing masks and gloves, and carrying handguns, entered the home through an open garage door, authorities said.

The family who lived in the home was forced into a downstairs bedroom while the suspects ransacked their home, then fled in a getaway vehicle, police said.

Local police have arrested four men after working for four months with the Newport Beach Police Department and Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies.

Richard Martinez and Jesse Paul Rubio, born in 1981, and Brian Dean Nightingale, born in 1980, were accused of committing the Huntington Beach robbery; Martinez and Rubio also are accused of committing a similar home invasion robbery in Newport Beach in December 2008, in which the victims were tied up and held at gunpoint.

Along with Anthony Michael Vega, born in 1958, the men also are charged with three armed home invasion robberies in Los Angeles County in late 2008, authorities said. Police claimed the men may also have been involved in other Southern California robberies over the past year. During the investigation, police seized a large cache of firearms, some of which were reported stolen during burglaries; other recovered stolen property has been linked to the suspects, according to authorities.
