UCI Extension presents free career makeover webinar

WHAT: The University of California, Irvine Extension, presents “Extreme Career Makeover – Managing Your Job Search” a free online Webinar event offering expert advice for securing a job with project management resources in these uncertain economic times. UC Irvine Extension’s Extreme Career Makeover Webinar will provide participants with the resources necessary to find a job and understand and predict trends in potential growth areas. Project management and job resource experts will provide participants with tools, tips and processes to help package and market to best utilize career growth opportunities.

WHY: Unemployment in California is at an all time high. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, unemployment in California for the month of March has reached an alarming 11.2 percent. A ruthless and difficult job search will often turn job seekers away. Resources provided in the Extreme Career Makeover Webinar will help the career minded to stand out above the rest.

WHEN: Thursday, June 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. PDT

WHO: Contributors to the “Extreme Career Makeover” Webinar, include:

Cynthia Stackpole, M.B.A., PMP, recognized project management industry expert, author and UC Irvine Extension Instructor, will present the tools and techniques of project management that can make a job search more manageable and ultimately more successful.

Evelyn Bell, program supervisor for the Orange County One-Stop Center, will provide information on resources available to individuals in their job search. Important tips on salary negotiations, appropriate work attire, and training will be highlighted in her presentation.

Jonathan Lansner, real estate columnist/ blogger for The Orange County Register, will discuss how the housing market and mortgage crisis impacts the job market. His blogging experience will serve as a springboard to discuss how new social media tools can be applied in job searches.
