NCAA West Regional

EUGENE, Ore. — UC Irvine juniors Lauren Collins and Alisha Misiaita qualified for the NCAA Championships following their performances Saturday at Hayward Field.

Collins finished third in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 1/2 inch to finish third, as the top five finishers in individual events at the regional advance to the NCAA Championships at Fayetteville, Ark., June 10-13.

Amber Kaufman of Hawaii-Manoa won the event at the regional with a mark of 6-1 1/2 .

Misiaita placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 50-10 1/4 as Sarah Stevens of Arizona State was first at 55-9 3/4 .

The UCI men’s 4x400 relay just missed earning a berth in the NCAA meet.

Oliver Plattner, George Hernandez, Tim Murphy and Charles Jock finished fourth in 3 minutes, 9.37 seconds, as the top three relay teams advance to the NCAA Championships. USC was first in 3:06.09, BYU second in 3:08.49 and Arizona State third in 3:09.33.

In other UCI performances Saturday, junior Matt Lahti finished 15th of 29 in the hammer throw with a mark of 192-4. Kendall Bruton finished 25th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:15.41.
