What should have been a normal end to a night with friends ended up as anything but when police said a young man and woman were attacked by a knife-wielding man Saturday.

Just before 5 a.m. Saturday a man and woman were leaving their friend’s home when two men in their 20s approached them, police said. One of the men was carrying a sharp object, possibly a knife, and slashed at the man, cutting his stomach and wrist. The man fought back and swung at his attacker with his skateboard, missing. At the same time, his female companion also put up a fight and tried to punch the attacker, but instead hit her friend’s skateboard, breaking her wrist.

The two attackers ran off. The young man and woman were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
