“I haven’t really been training for it much after training for 10 months straight,” Koressel said. “I’m mostly just going for the experience. I’m looking forward to it.”

Edison’s Boswell headed to UCSB

Edison High senior-to-be Kyle Boswell has verbally committed to UC Santa Barbara for mens’ basketball.

Boswell missed some time due to injury his junior year but still scored 21 points per game. He could break the Edison all-time scoring record this season.

Three locals make top 100 list

Jordan Zumwalt (No. 49) and Roman Sapolu (No. 98) of Edison, along with Kyle Middlebrooks of Fountain Valley (No. 80), have been named to the top 100 in California football’s Class of 2010 list by Scout.com.

Zumwalt, a linebacker, has verbally committed to Stanford. He was the Sunset League co-Defensive Player of the Year last season.

Sapolu, a center who is the son of former San Francisco 49ers great Jesse Sapolu, has verbally committed to the University of Oregon.

Middlebrooks, who recently finished second in the 100 meters at the CIF State Track and Field Championships, rushed for 1,520 yards and 20 touchdowns last year for the Barons. He set a school single-season record for rushing yards.
