Grapes for Grads scholars named

The Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce and Laguna Beach Rotary Club announced the scholarship recipients from Laguna College of Art & Design on June 18 during the Third Thursday Forest Avenue Promenade.

Jessica Hernandez and Enrique Escobedo, both fine art majors, each received a $2,000 scholarship, based on their essay submissions, academic excellence and portfolio review.

Event chairman Jeff Redeker, who serves as president of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Laguna Beach Rotary Club, said both organizations did a great job of bringing together businesses and philanthropic leaders to co-host the event and present the awards.

“This year’s event was just incredible. Our community really came out to support higher education in art and academics,” he said. “The recipients really embody the commitment these two organizations have for the arts, community service and higher education.”

The scholarships were made possible by funds raised at the fourth annual Grapes for Grads wine tasting event in April.
