Better known as “Bob”

Beloved husband of Dr. Joyce

Johnson, President of the Wellness

Center of America, died on June

10th. Dr. Joyce has lived in Laguna

Beach for 15 years. Bob was

born in South Dakota, but lived

most of his life in Colorado, Texas,

Hawaii, and California. His

most important childhood events

were playing guitar and becoming

a Christian. At age 18, the Army discovered he had

Tuberculosis so shipped him off to a sanatorium in Kansas.

They set up an easel over his bed, and lying there he became

well known for his paintings of Jesus. He also got a

college music degree. He was not expected to survive but

after 4 years he was miraculously cured. He then began

teaching guitar. He worked in CEO positions for both

Fender and Yamaha. He was married to Mary Kay for 45

years and on her death he went to the internet and was

matched to his most recent wife, Joyce Johnson. They

were married for 7 years as he conquered Colon Cancer,

Prostate Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Congestive Heart

Failure, but was finally struck down with a rare leukemia

that destroys the bone marrow. Unknown to most, he

was a pool shark often referred to as “Minnesota Thin”.

His favorite hobbies were painting, playing steel guitar,

watching Tiger Woods’ tournaments, and traveling. His

favorite destination was the Holy Land which he talked

about often. Jesus was the most important force in his life

and he never missed a day of church or picking up food

for the poor. He was the most disciplined, patient, kind,

generous, happy, fun person, with a drive to help others

right to the end. One week before he died he was trying

to work out in the gym, 3 days before he died he was in

the office working and two days before he went to be with

our Lord he was teaching steel guitar to my grandson. He

will be so missed by the many people who loved him. His

memorial service will be held this Saturday, June 27th at 3

o’clock at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 428 Park Avenue,

Laguna Beach.
