Fourth of July a ‘blast’

The fireworks are on “” despite rumors to the contrary “” and this Fourth of July is sure to be a blast in Laguna Beach, wherever you go.

The city will offer an array of activities, including beach fun under the red-hot sun, exploring the blue waters and sipping sparkling white cocktails at local pubs. So put on your star-spangled duds, get ready for some booming excitement and celebrate your independence any way you choose.

Fireworks

The city will light up the sky at 9 p.m., with the Heisler Park fireworks show. The Monument Point area of Heisler will be closed all day Saturday. About 5 p.m. the area of Heisler Park from Rock Bench at Myrtle Street to the Rockpile stairs at Jasmine Street will be closed to prepare for the fireworks show and the public will not be allowed in this area.

Free summer trolleys will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. only.

The public will be expected to observe parks and beach rules, including no alcohol or smoking on the beaches, and no tents or “easy-ups.”

No fireworks of any kind are allowed.

Holiday Concert

The Laguna Community Concert Band will celebrate Independence Day with a performance from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. at the Sawdust Festival, 935 Laguna Canyon Road. For more information, call (888) 308-8324.

Parties at venues

?Will Gorges will host an “IndepenDance” at 7 p.m. at [seven degrees] with DJ Dawna Montel and dancers all night. Attendees can catch the fireworks from the rooftop at 9 p.m. Admission is $20. For more information, visit www.gorges.com.

?Mozambique Steakhouse, 1740 S. Coast Hwy., will host a Fourth of July party with live lounge music by Roly, who will play a variety of music to “satisfy any mood.” The all-day event will offer steak and lobster specials, $10 dinner plates and sunset specials at the bar from 4 to 7 p.m. For more information, call (949) 715-7777.
