Bailey the lab gets rescued

Our other lab had recently died. Such an emptiness we felt, my husband and I. We had heard about lab rescue...wonderful things. Yet, we hesitated. Finally we felt ready to go ahead and search for one this way. The day came for us to view our selection. They actually had come by our home! As we watched her open her back car door....as we watched her open the cage door....out popped this frightened, young yellow lab! What a beautiful pup!! We fell in love immediately! We had him checked out by our vet, and he was in perfect shape! He had come with all his shots up-to-date, he was recently fixed, and micro-chipped! We couldn’t decide on a name for him, so he got all of them! Bailey Tucker Rocky Carter! I told my husband that he would be my constant companion for most of the time, and he was and is to this day! In the beginning, he was very quiet, never barking. Then about a week later, we finally heard his voice! What joy! He is not a barker, but does occasionally when he see someone pass by and want to tell them hello! And, he was as good as gold the first month. We feel he was afraid he would leave us. Then, one day we saw him standing on his hind legs to see if any leftovers were on the counter! Yes, he does help me with those! Bailey is just a most wonderfu pup. Over the years (3 1/2 now) he has been such a joy to us. He has added to his weight, again in helping with those food items that he feels we need help with. His personality is wonderful! When we go to our weekly puppy park outing, he loves to play with all the dogs! But it is funny how he quickly looks for us and catches up to us as to not get left behind. I feel that those feelings of abandonment will always remain with him. Oh, one more thing. Bailey especially loves little dogs. In fact, he thinks he is a little dog...all 95 pounds of him! Many times he comes and sits on my lap when I am on the floor with him. And, forget doing those floor exercises. When that floor mat goes down, Bailey thinks it is HIS time! So we have our petting time first. Then he lays on the mat with me while I ATTEMPT to exercise around him. He seems most grateful to have a family that loves him. We are most grateful to have a treasured friend that loves us! That’s our Bailey!
