Newport Beach police have released more detailed statistics from the Fourth of July weekend, and numbers show men were the overwhelming problem crowd for authorities.

Police made 119 arrests between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Sunday, a 25% drop from 159 arrests last year.

Of those arrested, 15 were women.

Police said 107 of the arrests were for misdemeanors and the dozen others for various felonies.

Only 15% of arrestees listed Newport Beach as their city of residence, showing that the Balboa Peninsula and the city as a whole continues to be a major attraction for visitors around the holiday.

Police issued more than 300 tickets, most for alcohol-related offenses and issued 600 parking tickets.
