Workshop lets families make art together

Kids and parents can get creative as they make their own miniature installation at a free art workshop with a local artist Sunday.

The lesson is part of Artsy Sundays, a program that provides free lessons to families at the Huntington Beach Art Center through a grant from Target.

This week’s workshop is with local artist Ken Gordon, whose work is currently being exhibited at the art center, said Luisa Cohrs, the art center’s education director.

Families will have the opportunity to work with Gordon and create their own mini-installation using small plastic animals and people, cardboard and aluminum foil.

“They can see what his piece is about, and they can do something similar to it,” Cohrs said.

The free workshop will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

There will also be a workshop July 19.
