Boy dies Tuesday after truck collision

A 14-year-old boy died Tuesday night after he was critically injured several days ago when a pickup truck struck him on Euclid Street near Ellis Avenue in Fountain Valley.

Hayden Meier of Rancho Santa Margarita was running westbound across Euclid when a 2007 Ford F-150 traveling southbound struck him, a police news release said. He was rushed to UCI Medical Center for life-threatening injuries and put on life support. He was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday.

The collision is still under investigation, and no cause for the incident has been determined.
