Possible assault victims sought
Police are seeking more possible victims of a Costa Mesa man they say lured a teenage girl to his home and sexually assaulted her.
Jaime Zamora Ramirez, 40, is scheduled to be arraigned today on felony charges of rape and false imprisonment after authorities said he attacked one of his young co-workers two weeks ago.
Ramirez manages First Class Cleaners, a dry-cleaning business in Fountain Valley. Police said on July 11, Ramirez told one of his employees to drive another employee, a 17-year-old girl from Tustin, to his home in Costa Mesa. She thought she was there to pick up some paperwork for the business at the end of the day, prosecutors said.
When the girl got there, Ramirez led her to a back room where the paperwork supposedly was, locked the door behind her and assaulted her, prosecutors said.
The girl later showed police her bruises and said Ramirez warned her not to report the incident because she is an illegal immigrant and no one would believe her, police said.
Authorities do not check a victim’s immigration status or detain them for it.
Police searched Ramirez’s home and found evidence of the crime and arrested him, said Sgt. Bryan Glass.
He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail in Orange County Jail. He faces up to eight years and eight months in prison if convicted of all charges.
Authorities said there may be more victims and urge anyone with information or believe they’ve been a victim to call Detective Mike Manson at (714) 754-5360.
