Meta Going

Meta Booge Going, loving wife of

John “Jack” Shirley Going, who

predeceased her in 1998, passed

peacefully in her sleep July 21,

2009. She was born in Pasadena,

California in 1915. She graduated

from Girls Collegiate School.

Friends and memories from there

stayed with her for the rest of her

life.

Meta met Jack when she was

fourteen and they courted

until married in 1934. They raised their family in South

Pasadena. She was an active support in their developing

agricultural enterprises. When Jack retired, foreign travel

became an important part of their life. When not traveling,

Jack and Meta were proud, active and dedicated members

of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Living within close

walking distance, the membership and its activities became

the center of their life.

Meta is survived by her children Captain Jack Going

(Billie) and Sally Going Westcott (Clark); Grandchildren,

Bradford Westcott, Wendy Westcott Burgoon, Lindsey

Going, Carey Going Levash and was predeceased by Tanya

Nelson; Great grandchildren, Ben Burgoon,Tully Burgoon,

Bree Westcott, Clay Westcott, Julian Levash and Luke

Nelson.

We thank all that were lovingly involved in her life. A

grateful thank you to her caregivers Caryl and Stephanie.

Desiring neither a memorial nor fl owers, Meta would have

been pleased by a remembrance to the Alta Bahia of the O.

C. Philharmonic or NHYC Mother Sabots.
