Pedestrian killed on 133 highway

A 56-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup truck while walking on Highway 133 near the 73 Toll Road interchange at 3:26 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Orange County Coroner’s office. The identity of the victim is not being released pending notification of relatives. The highway was closed for two hours while California Highway Patrol and other agencies investigated the incident.

Woman allegedly hits man with truck

A Laguna Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly hitting a man with her truck and running over his foot during an altercation in the 1400 block of North Coast Highway at 9:02 p.m. July 15, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said.

Alisa Rose Andrew, 39, was sent to return some tools that had been in the victim’s truck when it was repossessed earlier that day. Andrew and another woman brought the tools to a hotel where the victim was staying, whereupon the passenger in the truck began to argue with the victim, Kravetz said. Andrew, the driver, then began to leave the area but allegedly ran over the victim’s foot. Then, driving out of the hotel property, she allegedly hit the victim in the back with the right front portion of the truck.

When police arrived, Andrew had left the scene, and was located at her Mermaid Street apartment and placed under arrest.

The victim, complaining of pain, was taken to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach.

Woman accused of endangering son

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment after police responded to a traffic collision in the 700 block of Summit Drive on July 15, Kravetz said.

Elizabeth Kymberliee Hansen, whose 8-year-old son was in the car, had veered off the roadway and hit a sign. A citizen stopped to assist, and called police fearing Hansen was having a seizure. Police took her to the hospital, but she was determined not to need treatment. Instead, she was charged with driving under the influence of prescription medications.

Hansen was taken to Orange County Jail on $100,000 bail, and her son taken to Orangewood juvenile facility. Neither were injured in the crash.

Woman has fifth DUI arrest

A 43-year-old Laguna Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI on a scooter at 12:11 a.m. July 17, after police observed her allegedly going down Forest Lane the wrong way, said Sgt. Jason Kravetz.

Misti Danielle Platt had been arrested four previous times on DUI charges, Kravetz said. She was held on $50,000 bail.

Local teen accused of drug possession

Trevor El Hathaway, 18, of Laguna Beach, was arrested at 10:31 p.m. July 17 on suspicion of possessing hashish and marijuana after patrol officers encountered a parked car with a group of teenage boys inside in the 300 block of Harold Drive, Kravetz said.

The officer said he smelled burning marijuana and saw vomit on the ground underneath one of the open vehicle doors. The officer detained four male occupants and had them exit the car. Police allegedly found hashish on Hathaway, and also allegedly found marijuana inside the vehicle. Hathaway was arrested and the other three, all 17-year-old juveniles, were brought to the station and cited for curfew violations prior to being released to their parents.

Bizarre behavior leads to drug citation

A 42-year-old Corona man was issued a citation for marijuana possession after police were called to a man behaving strangely in the 600 block of Park Avenue at 1:20 p.m. July 17, Kravetz said.

When police arrived, the suspect, Richard Boyle, was standing next to his vehicle sweeping the sidewalk with a broom, Kravetz said. Police did not note that he was under the influence of any drugs, but allegedly found less than one ounce of marijuana in his possession.

Van burglar eludes citizen pursuer

Police are seeking a suspect who burglarized a Chevy Astro Van parked in the 400 block of Cliff Drive at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Kravetz said.

A witness happened upon the van and, seeing a man inside, confronted the man, who grabbed a purse from inside the vehicle and fled. The witness then chased the suspect to the 200 block of North Coast Highway, but lost him.

Later, police located the purse, which was missing $400. A towel which was stolen from the van was also recovered.

Man accused of tagging parking structure

A 19-year-old Highland man was arrested on suspicion of vandalism after allegedly spray painting graffiti inside the Glenneyre Street parking structure at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Kravetz said.

Peter Bryan Belmonte told officers he had originally planned on going to Venice in order to tag walls, but came to Laguna Beach instead.
