City brings free movies to Pier Plaza

Residents can view a family-friendly film at the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza Amphitheater every Thursday night in August.

Huntington Beach is hosting Movies at the Pier Amphitheater those nights at sundown, free of charge to the public and courtesy of the SoCal Independent Film Festival.

Those planning to attend are welcome to bring blankets and food, said Laura Tanger, who heads up sponsorships for the event.

August’s sponsors include Shorebreak Hotel, Nestlé and Bella Vita Spa. Tanger said more sponsors are needed.

The movie lineup will be the following: “WALL-E” on Aug. 6, “Kung Fu Panda” on Aug. 13, “The Wizard of Oz” on Aug. 20 and either “Finding Nemo” or “Monsters vs. Aliens” on Aug. 27.

The amphitheater is at 317 Pacific Coast Hwy.
