Medical assistance called for man pushed into pool
A man called police at 2:13 a.m. Sunday to say a male security guard had been pushed into a pool by a group of nude female skinny dippers in the 16700 block of Viewpoint Lane.
The caller helped the security guard out of the pool, as he could not swim, then requested medical attention for the guard.
The guard was taken to a hospital, and police took the victim’s report of battery by the women.
Callers report man entering their home
A caller at 12:53 a.m. Sunday said she awoke from a “deep sleep” at her home in the 1200 block of Main Street to find that someone had opened her bedroom slider; she then saw a tall man in her doorway, staring at her.
When she realized someone was there, she followed him to the back yard, where he was urinating. The suspect told the woman that he was looking for his friend.
She ran back inside and called police, saying the man was wearing a necklace like those used at the U.S. Open.
Two minutes later, another caller in the 200 block of Pacific Coast Highway said he awoke to find someone in his apartment, carrying a box of food and a cell phone; his balcony’s sliding glass door was open.
Officers were sent to investigate both incidents. Neither case appeared to be a robbery.
Maruffa Circle: When a “very drunk” man threw up in a cab, the driver said he was going to charge him $75 in cleaning fees; the man then complained it cost too much, so the driver called police at 1:15 a.m. Sunday. The man later agreed to the charges.
Scenario Drive: Two women said that strange men with a flashlight were at their front door in the 17700 block at 2:44 a.m. Sunday. Police determined the “two men” were kids dropping off their friend next door.
Hartlund Street at Talbert Avenue: A man said several suspects started shooting at him with a BB gun in an alley at 1:09 a.m. Sunday. The man said the suspects were laughing. Police were unable to locate them.
Vista del Sol Drive: A man called police to say that his girlfriend was going to call them, complaining that the man bit her, in the 6800 block at 2:15 a.m. Sunday. The woman then called, saying he hit her, and requesting medics. The man said the woman was drinking and taking Vicodin, but that he had not been drinking.
B Street: A 19-year-old female caller said she was scared because her living room light just turned on and off by itself in the 17000 block at 3:14 a.m. Sunday. Officers were assigned to investigate, but the caller discovered that the light turned out to be a flashing light on her computer.
Palm Avenue: A caller said they heard two shots fired in the 1400 block at 12:20 a.m. Sunday.
Pacific Coast Highway: A caller said a drunken man standing on a hotel balcony pointed a green laser pointer at people on the street in the 300 block at 1:04 a.m. Sunday. The caller said they told the man that it was against the law, but the man said he was aware of that and continued pointing it.
Crest Avenue: A caller said a drunken man was screaming in an alley, banging on a fence and trying to crawl over it for several minutes in the 200 block at 2:02 a.m. Sunday.
6th Street: A caller said a group of people were having a verbal argument and “kind of grabbing each other” in the 100 block at 3:12 a.m. Sunday.
Pacific Coast Highway: A black pickup truck was seen “doing donuts” in front of a hotel in the 21100 block at 3:38 a.m. Sunday.
Pacific Coast Highway: A caller said she had just received a call from her daughter, who was at a gas station and afraid to get back into her abusive husband’s vehicle, in the 500 block at 4:09 a.m. Sunday.
Yorktown Avenue: A caller said someone took the catalytic converter from his truck in the 8000 block overnight at 5:56 a.m. Sunday.
Pecan Avenue: Someone complained that a resident was selling parking spaces in front of their home in the 700 block at 7:21 a.m. Sunday.
13th Street: A yellow beach cruiser was reportedly stolen overnight in the 300 block at 7:52 a.m. Sunday.
Lake Street: A Harley Davidson motorcycle in an underground parking garage was found to be vandalized in the 400 block at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Lake Street: Three laptops, a cell phone, a purse, Bluetooth headset and charger, and purse contents were reported stolen overnight from a home in the 1800 block at 9:03 a.m. Sunday.
Lake Street at 10th Street: A man who had reported his truck stolen found it at 11:02 a.m. Sunday. It turned out he had forgotten where he parked his vehicle.
Pier: A caller said a man was hanging on a ladder attached to a black helicopter as an advertisement for the upcoming “GI Joe” movie at 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
Pier: A caller dialed 911 to curse at the call-taker after receiving a ticket for smoking on the pier at 1:46 p.m. Sunday.
Magnolia Street: A caller said someone tried to pull down their car window while they were at a fast-food drive-through in the 20900 block at 12:07 a.m. Sunday.
Eastport Drive: Several callers said a group was disturbing the peace by fighting in a residence in the 8200 block at 1:13 a.m. Sunday. They swore at each other, threatened to kill each other and used epithets like “child molester.”
Yorktown Avenue at Beach Boulevard: Two women were seen fighting with a cab driver over change they believed he owed them in front of a drug store at 2:47 a.m. Sunday.
State Beach Tower 12: A steak knife was found in the sand between Tower 12 and Tower 13 at 8:44 a.m. Sunday.
Brookhurst Street: A “beer run” theft was committed at a grocery store in the 18400 block at 6:47 p.m. Sunday.
Warner Avenue: Petty theft was reported from a gas station in the 8900 block at 8:11 p.m. Sunday.
Brookhurst Street: Petty theft was reported from a fast-food restaurant in the 18900 block at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Stonecress Avenue: A case of battery was reported in the 11300 block at 8:36 p.m. Sunday.
La Lila Lane: A resident complained about a loud “Guitar Hero” gaming session in the 10500 block at 11:17 p.m. Saturday.
