A missing Laguna Beach man was found alive at 1:25 p.m. today in a crevice at Moulton Meadows Park.

Moe Mohsen Sakahaii, 65, was rescued via helicopter, said Lt. Jason Kravetz of the Laguna Beach Police Dept.

Sakahaii was taken to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach with minor injuries, after spending 28 hours in the park.

An all-out search for Sakahaii started Thursday evening, after his wife reported him missing. She had come home from work and was unable to find her husband, then drove to Moulton Meadows Park where she found his car, at which point she telephoned the police department.

Mr. Sakahaii was last seen at the park after he had gone there in the morning to fly radio-controlled airplanes. He briefly went home to eat breakfast before returning to the park. He had not been seen or heard from since Thursday morning, Kravetz said.

“Searchers had located one of the airplanes he was flying,” Kravetz said. “This plane was found earlier this morning down the steep ravine east of Moulton Meadows Park.”

Laguna Beach police and fire departments worked alongside Orange and Los Angeles County law enforcement and firefighters to locate the missing man.
