Linda Suzanne (Brunette) Menk

(August 31, 1947 – July 31, 2009)

Devoted mother, daughter,

sister, and aunt, Linda

(Brunette) Menk passed away

on July 31st at Hoag Memorial

Hospital, Newport Beach,

CA. Linda was born in Grand

Junction, CO to Terrence and

Lorraine Brunette of Fargo,

N.D. and was the fourth of

eight children. In 1953 the

family permanently settled in

Palmdale, CA.

At Palmdale High School,

as president of “Lafayettes,” a girl’s service club, Linda

established the beginnings of her lifetime of service to the

community. She reigned as “Miss Lilac Queen,” at Palmdale’s

annual spring festival in 1965 and worked at “The Red Dog,”

the local teenage hangout.

Linda moved “down below” to West Los Angeles with life

long friend Patty. She was employed by Jack Linkletter

Enterprises, later relocating to Newport Beach with the

business. Settling in Costa Mesa, she married Bruce Menk

and together they have a son, Brandon and stepdaughter

Amy. Her passions were family, the beach, two-step dancing,

big band jazz, disco and country music.

Linda was the owner of “The Executive Suite” for over 20

years in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. She was dedicated

to community outreach and volunteered countless hours to

the substance abuse & prevention community, including

Alcoholics Anonymous. As the first female President of

”CharleStreet” (a men’s residential recovery home), she

spearheaded numerous fundraisers. Linda’s leadership

brought many to and through the 12-step program. Her peers

hold her in high esteem.

Linda leaves behind Brandon, precious son and her greatest

legacy, former husband Bruce, stepdaughter Amy, seven

brothers and sisters, numerous in-laws, fourteen nieces and

nephews, sixteen great nieces and nephews and two stepgrandchildren.

Her parents precede her in death and are now

reunited with their beloved daughter.
