ICE detained 13 for suspected felonies

Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained more than a dozen people in July who were arrested in Costa Mesa on suspected felonies.

According to statistics released by the Costa Mesa Police Department, the ICE agent in the Costa Mesa jail interviewed 47 arrestees on suspicion of violating federal immigration laws. The agent ended up detaining 41 of them, 13 of those people for suspected felonies.

The total number of detainees is the second-highest this year behind March, where there were 43 detainees. In all, immigration officials have detained 251 of 403 people interviewed for potential immigration violations in 2009.
