Police logs showed a man reported his bike was stolen early Monday.

According to police, about 1:19 a.m. Monday, a man was riding his beach cruiser near 17th Street and Irvine Avenue in Newport Beach when three men in their late teens approached him and pushed him off his bike.

They assaulted him while he was on the ground, then made off with the beach cruiser, said Sgt. Bryan Glass.

The man flagged down a Newport Beach police officer nearby, who assisted until Costa Mesa units responded to the scene.
