Tony’s holds fond memories for the couple as they ate dinner there on their wedding night. Lew and Jackie had eaten at Tony’s a few times while they were dating. When they decided to elope on August 15, 1959 they got married at A Aloha Wedding Chapel in Long Beach and afterwards went to Tony’s for dinner.

The wedding was a surprise to both families as the bride and groom had both told their families they were off to a friend’s wedding. “I told my family that I was going to a wedding, a friend of Lew’s.” Jackie recalls. “After we got married and they saw me in my pretty dress, they said; ‘Whose wedding did you go to, yours or someone else’s?’ I said ‘Ours.’ They didn’t believe me and I had to go out to the car and get the marriage certificate to prove it.”

Lew says he pulled off a similar surprise, “I asked my mother to iron my white shirt as I was going to a wedding, a friend of Jackie’s. We had no money for a honeymoon, but my parents were leaving that night for an out of town trip, so we had dinner at Tony’s and then stayed at their house as our honeymoon.” The next month the new Mr. and Mrs. Storrer travelled to San Francisco with his family over Labor Day Weekend.

Tony’s has continued to play a part in their anniversaries as the Storrers have celebrated many of their wedding anniversaries at Tony’s since 1959.

Mr. and Mrs. Storrer’s golden anniversary was celebrated with a special dinner at Tony’s where they were joined by their daughters, Kim Creyaufmiller & Kellie Storrer, their son-in-law, Greg Creyaufmiller, their granddaughter, Heather Creyaufmiller, and family friend, Nolan Shult.

The Storrers are long-time residents of Huntington Beach, but briefly lived in Manhattan Beach and Coeur d’Alene, ID. Lew Storrer is a former fireman and retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1989.
