Raymond Kurtz

Raymond Kurtz was born 12/1/1921 in Lattimer Mines,

Pa. Raymond was the son of Ukrainian immigrant

coal miner Marko Kozushko and his wife Paraska.

Raymond is predeceased by his dear wife Anne, eight

brothers and a sister. He is survived by several nieces

and nephews.

Ray served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He

won two distinguished fl ying crosses while fl ying “the

Hump” from India to China-Burma to supply gasoline

and ammunition to the Chinese patriots.

Raymond had a long and distinguished career as a

senior vice president with Avco Finance. Ray and

Anne made many moves with Avco that eventually led

them to Newport Beach in 1972. Ray and Anne saw

no reason to leave, they had found home. Raymond

retired from Avco, opened his own commercial real

estate practice and participated in the Orange County

boom.

Ray and Anne were active in the Lutheran Church

of The Master. Ray served as Treasurer of the

construction project which built Seaview Lutheran

Plaza, a retirement community in Corona del Mar.

Raymond spent the last four years of his life in the

wonderful care of Felicissima “Angel” Kendle and her

family, fi lling Ray’s last years with singing, laughter,

song and love.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August

20, 2009 at Pacifi c View Memorial park, 3500 Pacifi c

View Drive, Corona del Mar, CA 92625.
