Along came a spider

What’s scarier than a spider dropping down into your lap? How about a spider dropping into your lap while you’re driving?

That’s what happened to one woman Wednesday in Newport Beach when she was parking at 418 31st Street at about 8:30 a.m. A spider dropped down beside her and frightened her Mercedes away — into a building. The startled woman accidentally hit the gas and sent her car into the rear of Kelly Construction, where her husband was standing just inside. The car went completely into the building and gave her and her husband minor scrapes and bruises but no serious injuries, police said.
