Two Costa Mesa men are due in court Wednesday after police said they broke into a vending machine at a local mobile home park.

Moses Corral, 21, and Jeff Alexander Canales, 18, were booked on suspicion of burglary and robbery after police said the two men were caught stealing sodas and cash out of a vending machine and fought off a local homeowner Monday afternoon.

About 3:48 p.m., Corral and Canales busted open the soda machine in the Trade Winds Mobile Home Park, 2191 Harbor Blvd., and were gathering sodas and up to $175 in cash when the park’s owner confronted them, police said.

They fought back and were soon after arrested just outside the park at the end of Miner Street in Costa Mesa, police said.

Both men are being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Canales was on formal probation following guilty pleas on three separate cases in April, including counts of misdemeanor theft and felony attempted grand theft. He pleaded guilty in January to felony weapons charges.
