Betty Jane Wright

December 20, 1934 – August 19, 2009

Betty Wright passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on August 19, 2009.

Born in South Dakota, Betty moved to California with her parents, Esther and Otto Brodersen and her brother Gordon, when she was three. Aside from a brief time in Texas and England in her early 20’s, Betty lived in California all her life. She was indispensable as an office manager, was a voracious reader and dabbled in golf, tennis and painting. Most important to her, she lovingly raised a son and a daughter and doted on her grandchildren.

Betty was loved and will be missed by her husband Richard Wright, her daughter and her daughter’s husband, Dana Bunnett and Andreas Guralas, her son and her son’s wife, David Bunnett and Tamara Plake Bunnett and her grandchildren, Danica, Tatum, and AJ. She will also be missed by her brothers, Lloyd Brodersen, Floyd Brodersen, Gordon Brodersen and his wife Ruth, and their families. Betty also had a close circle of friends who loved and cared for her and will miss her support and positive attitude.

Betty will be remembered for her zest for life, her courage in her long battle with cancer, her sense of humor and her loving nature. She never had a bad word for anyone and those who spoke with her felt better for the conversation. She loved celebrations and always made sure birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter were special for her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Friday August 28 at 1:00 o’clock at the American Legion Post #291, 215 E. 15th Street in Newport Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hoag Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
