LONG BEACH — Kirby Burnham had 19 kills, 21 digs, four aces, one block to help lead the Sailors to a season-opening 26-24, 22-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-12 win Thursday.

Maddie Brown added 16 kills, four digs and one block, while Katey Thompson contributed eight kills, four digs and six blocks.

Mackenzi Campbell amassed 52 assists and also had two aces and three digs. Cinnamon Sary had seven kills and five digs and Kelly Heenan finished with 18 digs and two aces.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sydney Brombal recorded a team-high 17 kills to lead the Sea Kings to a season-opening 20-25, 25-9, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13 win Thursday.

Madie Smith had 53 assists, Britton Taylor registered three aces and Claire Ham had three blocks

LAGUNA BEACH — Lindsey Kish led the Lightning with four kills, 15 digs and one block, but the Breakers won the season-opener, 25-11, 25-14, 25-14 Thursday.

Zoe Kreitenberg had four kills, two blocks and one ace, while Madison Gordon-Lavaee added four kills and one ace.

IRVINE — Sophomore Erin Hong shot 13-over-par 49 to pace the Lightning in the nonleague home match at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club Thursday.

Senior Amy Babbush carded a 51 for Sage Hill (0-2).

TUSTIN — Seniors Casey Jones and Morgan Moody shot two-over-par 38 to help the Sailors claim two wins and post a school record for a nine-hole, team score on a par-36 course Wednesday at Tustin Ranch Golf Club.

Seniors Lindsey Hanna (40), Lauren Draganza (40) and Ali Thomas (42) helped Newport Harbor (3-0) better its previous team best by six strokes, Coach Scott Tarnow said.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Los Alamitos 11, Sage Hill 7

SEAL BEACH — Junior Devyn Billingsley and freshman Liana Kober swept at No. 1 singles to post the Lightning’s highlight in the nonleague season opener for both schools Thursday.

Rian Billingsley, Dominique Moore and Ava Soleimany all won one singles set.
