Ballet company begins fall showcase

Ballet Repertory Theatre will present its Fall Festival at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Golden West College Theater.

The show will include two pieces from “Swan Lake,” including the ballet’s Act II, which will showcase the entire company and its corps work, and the Black Swan Pas de Deux, to be performed by returning Ballet West guest artists Christopher Sellars and Katie Critchlow.

Two original compositions, “Classical Interludes” and “Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto,” will highlight the dancers’ versatility, as well as comedy, a wide range of rhythms and some choreographic surprises.

As part of the 2009 Summer Workshop Ensembles, selected Orange County Dance Center students will perform a “Tribute to Michael Jackson” on Saturday night and the lively “Offenbach Variations” on Sunday afternoon.
