Film festival comes to Huntington Beach

The fifth annual SoCal Film Festival in Huntington Beach will take place Monday to Sept. 23, and will feature more than 200 official selections, including 134 movie screenings and screenplay selections.

All movie screenings will be at the Huntington Beach Central Library Theater, 7111 Talbert Ave.

This year, the 10-day event will feature about 20 international movies from Germany, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Peru and Poland.

Event highlights include a Wednesday red carpet ribbon cutting with special guests celebrating the premiere of the feature film “Beautiful Loser.”

Sept. 19 will be a day of sports films, including the premiere of the “Signs of the Time” baseball documentary.

Sept. 17 will showcase the world premiere of “All’s Faire in Love,” starring Christina Ricci, Matthew Lillard, Ann-Margret, Owen Benjamin, Cedric the Entertainer and many others. The film is a romantic comedy set around a Renaissance faire.

The festival will also host professional panels on pitching projects to buyers and financiers, international movie distribution, and how to turn self-distribution into a major distribution deal.
