Anteaters’ Enloe honored

UC Irvine senior Greg Enloe was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Player of the Week Monday after helping the Anteaters’ men’s water polo team win its four games at the Inland Empire Classic, Saturday and Sunday in Redlands.

Enloe scored 13 goals in four games, in which the No. 8-ranked Anteaters outscored opponents by a combined 80-21 margin.

Enloe tied his career high with five goals in Saturday’s 21-8 win over Chapman. He scored four times in a 19-3 trouncing of Claremont-Mudd Scripps on Sunday.

Golfweek Conference Challenge

PRIMM, Nev. — UC Irvine sophomore Joy Trotter shot one-under-par 71 Monday and is tied for second after the second round of the three-round event that concludes today at Primm Valley Golf Course.

UCI is tied for sixth in the team standings after bettering its first-day score by 10 strokes Monday. UCI is 14 strokes behind Chattanooga, which tops the 18-team field heading into today’s final round.

Trotter, with a two-day score of 144, is four shots back of leader Caroline Hedwell from Oklahoma State.

Junior Hillary Packard (151) is 25th, while Freshman Michelle Park (153) is 31st to highlight other top Anteaters.

MEN’S WATER POLO

Inland Empire Classic

REDLANDS — No. 8-ranked UC Irvine won a pair of games Sunday to cap a 4-0 tournament.

UCI thumped Claremont-Mudd Scripps, 19-3, and handled Pomona-Pitzer, 19-2.

Senior Greg Enloe led the winners with four goals against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, while Tom Kruip, Kyle Kruip and Mihailo Jevtovic had three goals apiece against Pomona-Pitzer.

Matt Johnson had six saves in each game for the ’Eaters.

MEN’S SOCCER

UC Irvine 1, Marquette 0

MILWAUKEE — Junior Spencer Thompson converted an assist from senior Carlos Aguilar in the 57th minute to propel the visiting Anteaters, ranked No. 8, in the Marquette Invitational Sunday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Fontein had four saves to post his third shutout of the season.

UCI improved to 4-1, while Marquette fell to 1-2.

UCI finished third in the event.

Thompson and Aguilar represented the Anteaters on the all-tournament team, as did UCI senior Irving Garcia and junior Amani Walker.

UCI returns to action Friday when it will play host to Saint Mary’s College at 7 p.m.
