October 1 is Harry Lawrence’s Day!
Legendary Mr. Laguna will be honored on October 1st (his 96th Birthday) with a public celebration at 1:00 pm at Main Beach Park.
Elected officials from President Bush to Mayor Jane Egly and the City Council joined in a tribute to community activist Harry Lawrence, when Mayor Egly officially declared October 1st as Harry Lawrence Day. Accolades from White House and beyond for his decades of service were bestowed upon Harry. We will celebrate this official day October 1st at 1:00pm at the cobblestone area at Main Beach Park. The public is invited to join in the celebration.
Among Lawrences accomplishments include: city acquisition of Main Beach his beloved Window to the Sea; longtime membership in the Chambers Beautification Council; support for the Laguna Art Museum, the Laguna Playhouse and the construction of the South Coast Hospital, now a medical center, as well as many others.
