4:05 p.m. Taste of Newport kicks off tonight

Taste of Newport begins at 6 p.m. today at Fashion Island, kicking off a weekend chocked full of music, cooking demonstrations and world-class food.

The culinary festival will dish up cooking demonstrations from top local chefs.

Chef John Corum from Pomodoro will kick off the culinary demonstrations at 6:30 p.m. today at the Chef’s Cooking Pavilion, followed by Chef Rich Mead from Sage and Sage on the Coast. Chocolatier Chris Woods, of Christopher Michael Chocolatier will give a demonstration at 8:30 p.m. today.

Also tonight, Sugar Ray will perform at 9 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $22 in advance or $25 at the gate.
