Police are looking into a series of smash-and-grab vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight in Corona del Mar earlier this week.

Between late Sunday and early Monday, police said, five cars in Corona del Mar had their windows smashed and property stolen from the inside.

The burglaries occurred on Dorchester and Rockford roads and Cameo Highlands Drive. According to police, the burglar or burglars smashed the window of a 2009 BMW X5 in the 600 block of Rockford Road but stole nothing. While responding to that incident, police noticed a smashed window on a 2000 Land Rover in the 4700 block of Dorchester Road. There, a man’s wallet containing $80 was stolen from the front seat.

In the 700 block of Cameo Highlands Drive, police took a report of a 2004 Acura TSX that had the driver’s-side rear door smashed in. The burglar stole a computer bag and computer worth $3,000, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. On the same block, police responded to a rear window smash on a 2009 Mercedes GLK 350 where a $400 rear speaker had been stolen, Sailor said.

Down on Dorchester Road again, police received a call of a smashed window on a 2009 Land Rover where a $350 camera was stolen.

Police have not determined what tool was used to smash the windows and said nothing was left at the scene.
