Library still getting donations after fraud

Residents continue to help the Huntington Beach Central Library make up for losses from fraudulent tickets to the Taste of Huntington Beach, with another $2,700 in donations.

The library lost $11,000 from 200 fake ticket sales to the event in May. The money was supposed to go the Children’s Library.

An anonymous man came into the library this month to donate $200 to the Friends of the Children’s Library to help make up for the loss, according to a release from the Huntington Beach Central Library. Another man made a $2,500 donation on behalf of himself and his wife.

The library received an anonymous gift of $5,000 after the news of the forgery broke. The Taste of Huntington Beach is held in April to raise money for the Children’s Library and the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley.
