Arts groups to tour Pompeii exhibit

The Newport Beach Arts Commission and Newport Beach Arts Foundation will host a guided tour of the Pompeii exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Thursday.

“Pompeii and the Roman Villa: Art and Culture Around the Bay of Naples” contains rare ancient works of art excavated from the houses of the urban elite in and around Pompeii. The exhibit includes about 120 works of sculpture, painting, mosaic and luxury arts.

Space on the tour is limited and pre-registration is required. Tickets cost $50 per person or $45 for Arts Foundation members. The trip includes bus transportation, museum entry and a docent-led tour.

The tour will leave at 9:15 a.m. Thursday from the Newport Beach Central Library parking lot, 1000 Avocado Ave. For more information, call the Cultural Arts Office at (949) 717-3870 or pick up a registration form at any Newport Beach Public Library location or visit www.newportbeachca.gov/culturalarts.
