UC Irvine def. Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Kari Pestolesi had 13 kills and Juliane Pigott added 11 in the No. 21-ranked Anteaters’ 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 Big West Conference-opening win Friday.

Taryn Roberton had 35 assists and Pestolesi led with 10 digs for UCI (11-2).

Orange Coast def. San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO — Poerava Gantt and Karlee Skalla each had 11 kills to help the Pirates win the nonconference match, 25-12, 25-12, 25-21, Friday.

Amanda Cheseborough and Khrystlin Santos had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

Kimya Jafroudi and Catherine Cameron contributed 15 assists each for OCC (5-0).

MEN’S SOCCER

UC Irvine 2, Princeton 1

SAN DIEGO — Senior Kevin Santora scored in the 67th minute, capping two second-half goals that gave the No. 23-ranked Anteaters a come-from-behind win at the Nike Aztec Soccer Classic Friday.

Junior Spencer Thompson assisted on the game-winning goal. Freshman Jonathan Prieto tied the match up, 1-1, from 15 yards out off a through ball from senior Irving Garcia in the 61st minute.

Sophomore Andrew Fontein had three saves for UCI (5-2).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Washington 3,

UC Irvine 2 OT

IRVINE — Sophomore Lexi Kopf scored a goal and had an assist for the Anteaters in the nonconference match Friday night.

Freshman Mar Rodriguez also scored for the Anteaters (7-2-1). The Huskies took a 1-0 lead on an own goal. Kopf’s goal gave UCI a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute, but Washington scored in the 88th minute to send it into overtime.

Santa Ana 2

COSTA MESA — The Pirates’ Kallie Ryker scored two goals, including the game-winner with less than two minutes left in stoppage time in the Orange Empire Conference match Friday.

Ryker also assisted, along with Erica Munoz-Hardway, on Lara Tishler’s goal that gave OCC a 2-1 lead late in the match.

Alyssa Simon recorded four saves for OCC (6-2, 2-2 in conference).
