The Newport Beach City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday to finalize its pick for a new city manager.

The council will meet behind closed doors at 3:30 p.m. to discuss the appointment and then reconvene in open session to vote on an employment agreement with the new city manager.

The city first narrowed a field of 50 applicants down to seven. The City Council then interviewed the top seven applicants for the job last week.
