Bottle Baby Rescue Group

Week-old kittens were cut from the bushes and rescued after Community Animal Network was notified that coyotes may have taken a mama cat from her kittens, whose voices were growing weaker.

The Earl family of Newport Beach had just signed up to become a foster family, after reading the Sept. 15 “Pet of the Week” seeking volunteers.

Barron, 10, and Bridgette, 8, went to the rescue site after school and retrieved the five bottle babies. They have named them Hotrod, Spike, Tiger, Taylor and Newport.

The kittens are being fed around-the-clock and are nibbling fingers and purring happily.

Why not talk with your family about getting involved in lifesaving?

See photos of animals at www.animalnetwork.org.

On weekends, from noon to 4 p.m., meet cats and kittens that are up for adoption at Fashion Island or in the caregiver’s home. Russo’s Pet Experience is sponsoring them.

If you would like to volunteer, call (949) 759-3646 or donate to “help local animals” by mailing checks to Community Animal Network, PO Box 8662 Newport Beach, CA, 92658. Memo your check “nonprofit tax ID 33-0971560.”
