Talbert gives tour of new facility

Visitors clutched glasses of wine Friday as they walked in and out of hallways, stopping to peek in rooms on a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Talbert Surgical Associates facility in Huntington Beach.

Doctors, community members and residents viewed the state-of-the-art surgery rooms, went through the pre- and post-operation areas and even had a look in the doctors’ locker rooms in between stops to tables laden with mini-hors d’oeuvres at the grand opening ceremony.

“I’m excited and proud that we can offer this facility and this level of care,” said Keith Wilson, president and chief executive of the Talbert Surgical Associates and Talbert Medical Group.

The center at 7677 Center Ave. will service residents of Orange and Los Angeles counties. The facility offers same-day service in gastroenterology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, podiatry, urology and ENT. The center will give the Talbert Medical Group the ability to do its own outpatient surgery and allow other doctors to rent the facilities, said neurologist George Perrine.

Guests were taken on a tour where they saw everything the center has to offer. From the pediatric recovery room with a little boy watching a movie to the decontamination room with walls lined with shelves of sealed medical equipment, onlookers “oohed” and “ahhed” as they shuffled through.

“It’s huge. It looks like it offers a lot under one roof,” said Marta Mott, an employee at the VMR Institute in the building.

Along with the medical community, Huntington Beach residents came to check out the facility. Tom and Nancy Yee toured the center to see the new addition to their community. The retired couple is concerned with medical and health issues, Tom Yee said. The Yees said they were excited to hearing about the center’s opening.

“We were rather impressed with everything they managed to cover,” Tom Yee said. “I think the facility is exceptional.”
